Al CastelBrando di Treviso si è tenuto oggi il Terzo Forum Nazionale sul Turismo Sostenibile, un appuntamento che ormai è diventato il termometro dei grandi cambiamenti del settore. L’Italia arriva all’edizione 2025 con dati solidi: più arrivi, più spesa turistica, più lavoro — e una crescente attenzione alla sostenibilità.
ENIT ha ricordato come il turismo sia oggi uno dei motori più dinamici della nostra economia: entro fine 2025 il comparto genererà 237,4 miliardi di euro di PIL, con una proiezione che supera i 280 miliardi entro il prossimo decennio. Solo nei primi sette mesi del 2025 l’Italia è seconda in Europa per presenze internazionali (151,8 milioni) e registra un +10,4% di pernottamenti stranieri rispetto all’anno precedente.
La spesa dei viaggiatori esteri continua a crescere: si prevedono 60,4 miliardi di euro entro fine anno, mentre i consumi domestici raggiungeranno 124,6 miliardi. Tra le motivazioni che portano i turisti stranieri nel nostro Paese, vincono le vacanze, seguite dai viaggi di lavoro e — sempre più rilevante — il turismo delle radici, passato da 5 a 7,7 milioni in dieci anni.
Accanto ai numeri economici, emergono quelli sociali e ambientali: emissioni in calo, consumo d’acqua molto inferiore alla media mondiale, e un impatto positivo sull’occupazione. Il settore registra 1,34 milioni di lavoratrici tra filiera diretta e indiretta, e un tasso di occupazione femminile superiore alla media europea. Cresce anche il lavoro giovanile, con 134.000 giovani occupati.
Come ha ricordato Elena Nembrini, Direttore Generale ENIT, “la filiera turistica genera valore e sostiene crescita, conciliando risultati economici, sociali e di sostenibilità”.
Un segnale chiaro: l’Italia non solo attrae, ma evolve. E lo fa mettendo insieme competitività, identità e responsabilità.

The Third National Forum on Sustainable Tourism took place today at CastelBrando in Treviso — one of the key annual moments to analyze the evolution of Italy’s tourism landscape. The 2025 edition confirms a clear trend: stronger arrivals, higher spending, more jobs, and a growing focus on sustainability.
ENIT highlighted the strategic weight of tourism in Italy’s economy: by the end of 2025, the sector is expected to generate €237.4 billion in GDP, with projections surpassing €280 billion within the next decade. In the first seven months of 2025, Italy ranked second in Europe for international stays (151.8 million) and recorded a +10.4% increase in foreign overnights.
Foreign visitor spending continues to rise, with €60.4 billion forecast by year-end, while domestic spending will reach €124.6 billion. Top motivations for travel remain holidays, occasional business trips, and a rapidly expanding segment: roots tourism, which has grown from 5 to 7.7 million travellers in ten years.
Beyond economic results, the forum showcased Italy’s progress on ESG. Emissions related to travel and tourism have declined since 2019; freshwater consumption is well below the global average; and the sector strengthens employment. Tourism accounts for 1.34 million female jobs, with a higher-than-EU-average share of women in direct employment, and 134,000 young people working in the industry.
As ENIT’s Director General Elena Nembrini noted, “the entire tourism supply chain generates value, balancing economic growth with social and environmental progress.”
The message is clear: Italy is not only attracting more travellers — it is redefining what sustainable tourism leadership looks like.
