Roberto ha 42 anni, ingegnere aerospaziale.
Dopo il dottorato al Politecnico di Milano, vola a Toronto per lavorare in un centro di ricerca all’avanguardia.
Progetta satelliti, collabora con agenzie spaziali internazionali.
"All'estero avevo opportunità infinite. Ma mi mancava il peso delle radici."
Dopo quindici anni di carriera, sente il bisogno di rientrare, di "atterrare" di nuovo in Italia.
"Sognavo di costruire qualcosa che servisse anche a casa mia."
Nel 2022 torna a Pisa.
Si unisce a una startup universitaria che sviluppa droni e tecnologie spaziali per l’agricoltura di precisione e la gestione ambientale.
"Non ho rinunciato al futuro. L'ho solo portato più vicino."
Roberto oggi insegna anche in corsi universitari e aiuta giovani ricercatori a credere nella possibilità di innovare da qui.
"Il ritorno è stato il mio atto più ambizioso."

From Toronto to Pisa: turning aerospace skills into local innovation
Roberto, 42, aerospace engineer.
After earning his PhD at Politecnico di Milano, he moved to Toronto, working in cutting-edge aerospace research.
He designed satellites and collaborated with international space agencies.
"Abroad, I had endless opportunities. But I missed the weight of roots."
After fifteen years of career, he felt the need to return, to "land" again in Italy.
"I dreamed of building something that served home too."
In 2022, he moved to Pisa.
He joined a university startup developing drones and space tech for precision agriculture and environmental management.
"I didn’t give up on the future. I just brought it closer."
Today, he also teaches at the university and mentors young researchers to believe in innovating from here.
"Returning was my most ambitious act."
